Had 32 tyres fitted in lieu of Giro F3 standard 28s resulting in tyre profile about 5mm larger in tyre radius. Even with 28s, clearance between tyre and shifter is only about 8mm. With the larger tyres this clearance reduces to only about 3mm resulting in road crap being readily deposited into shifter mechanism and the inability to fit a mud guard. With CAD 3D design, how does such a stuff up occur? Another 25mm in rear fork length would have solved the issue. Guess Avanti was more worried about being able to use a standard 9 speed chain length rather than proper design. I definitely would not have bought the bike if I had noticed this. To me, as an engineer myself, it spells lack of attention to detail in design and leads me to question what else have Avanti stuffed up in the design.
