Description | To race against the clock, you need every advantage you can get. Meet the SCR 2000 from KHS, a triathlon/time trial bike that slices through the wind like a knife. The SCR features a radically-shaped alloy frame and a carbon fork, both designed with aerodynamics in mind. Shimano's durable 105 components make up the drivetrain, and parts from FSA, Tektro, Maxxis, and KHS round out the spec. A Q2 wheelset is the crowning touch here. | The Slice 105 from Cannondale offers athletes an affordable, high-performance triathlon/time trial bike that cuts through the wind like a blade. This machine features a radically-shaped carbon frame and fork for minimal wind resistance. Shimano's workhorse 105 components take care of braking and shifting, and parts from FSA, Schwalbe, and Cannondale round out the spec. A Shimano factory wheelset is the finishing touch. | The Speed Concept 7.0 is a performance-oriented time trial/tri bike from Trek. It offers that performance without requiring a second mortgage, too. The Speed Concept features an aero carbon frame and fork to slice through the wind and transfer power efficiently. Shimano 105 components handle shifting tasks, and a Bontrager cockpit rounds out the spec. |

Ultralight BallisTec Carbon Frames: The same carbon technology as our award-winning SuperSix EVOs, for frame and fork weights that are in a class of their own. The result is a tri-bike that can out-climb and out-accelerate most regular road bikes.
Real Tri Geometry: The new Slice geometry was based on data compiled from thousands of actual fittings done by our Fit Science partner, Guru. The resulting design keeps the rider more centered on the bike while in a true aero position for the best possible stability, handling and control.
TAP Tubes: The TAP (Truncated Aero Profile) tube shapes offer the perfect blend of wind-cheating aerodynamics, efficient stiffness and feathery weight, with none of the heavy, harsh-riding compromises of traditional aero tubes.
WindTunnel Pressure-Drag Reduction Tunnel: A small channel behind the seat tube reduces the pressure drag caused by air packing up between the spinning wheel and the frame, letting the wheel spin more freely at speed.
Life-Friendly Design: Direct mount Shimano brakes, a normal stem/steerer design, straightforward cable routing and vertical rear dropouts all make the Slice easy to pack, easy to build and easy to tune, saving hours of pre-race set-up stress. All new Slices are compatible with both mechanical and Di2 set-ups, and offer in-frame battery placement.
| Beyond the wind tunnel: Wind tunnel testing is an essential tool in the aero bike business. It's also a great way to tell how you stack up against the competition. Speed Concept, for example, stacks up great. For years it's been the world's fastest bike. But we wanted faster. For the all-new Speed Concept, we went back to the wind tunnel and dialed in the aerodynamics between 2.5 and 12.5 degrees of yaw, the most common average on Ironman courses (we know, because we measured them). We paid particular attention to the front end, paring it down to the cleanest, sleekest leading edge in the business.
New, faster frame design: It all adds up to more speed: 30% reduction in frontal cockpit area, unprecedented aero integration of cables, revolutionary Speed Fin, improved aerodynamics. And it gets even better: New Speed Concept is even lighter than before.
KVF tube shape: The new KVF tube shape features an improved ratio of length and width, an optimal combination that gives you the least air resistance and makes the fastest tube shape even faster. The Kammtail Virtual Foil (KVF) tube shape is groundbreaking aero technology. We started with a super-slippery 5:1 airfoil, then cut off the tail at just the right length to trick the wind into thinking the full foil is still there, creating a super-aero virtual tail.
500 Series OCLV: Over two decades ago, Trek engineers developed our Optimum Compaction, Low Void carbon manufacturing process, enabling us to produce carbon bikes with consistency and quality previously thought impossible. To this day, Trek OCLV Carbon continues to lead the industry, advancing what's possible in carbon frames. Each level of OCLV offers the best ride for the money, thanks to an optimal balance of areal weight, stiffness, and compliance. 500 Series OCLV achieves a superb balance of light weight, strength, and stiffness that's perfectly suited to the sophisticated frame technologies that distinguish Trek frames.
Net Molding: An OCLV Carbon exclusive. Our proprietary molding process allows us to create the precise, extremely-tight-tolerance shapes required for the best ride quality and performance, like our integrated cupless BB90 bottom bracket and our cupless Net Molded head tube.
Speed Fin: The Speed Fin performs double duty: it's a powerful brake booster to enhance rear-wheel braking power, and it cheats the wind as an aero rear-wheel fairing.
Full-foil fork: We tested every shape possible, and found this 6:1 ratio is fastest where it matters most. This fork slices the wind from 2.5-12.5 degrees of yaw angle without stalling for unparalleled aerodynamic performance in all real-world wind conditions.
Integrated Speed Storage: You need storage, but it can kill your aerodynamics. Bulky cages, flapping tape... major drag. Enter Bontrager Speed Storage, so well fitted to Speed Concept that you and your bike are actually more aerodynamic with it than without. Take your supplies, fuel, whatever you need with you. The more Speed Storage you carry, the less drag you fight.
Invisible brakes: Speed Concept is the first bike with front and rear brakes built directly into the fuselage. This innovative setup results in less drag and cleaner lines. Not only are the brakes integrated and fast in the wind tunnel, they're now even easier to adjust and set up.
Electronic drivetrain optimization: Full internal routing with a proprietary seatpost electronic battery mount allow for a perfect interface with the industry-leading drivetrain systems without a single cable tie or strip of tape. It's the most seamless component integration in the industry.
BB90: BB90 is the widest bottom bracket available on a road bike. This Trek-exclusive carbon BB makes the frame lighter, stiffer, and quicker to accelerate. BB90 eliminates the need for extra inserts and parts in the bottom bracket/frame junction. Fewer parts mean a lighter frame. And a lighter frame means a faster ride.
Bontrager aero skewers: Even the quick-release skewers on the Speed Concept increase its speed. We integrate them into the shape of the bike for faster aerodynamics.
DuoTrap compatible: DuoTrap seamlessly integrates the computer sensor into the frame to measure speed, distance, and cadence with no added aerodynamic drag. It works with all the major ANT+ wireless technology players, including Bontrager, Garmin, PowerTap, and SRM.
