E2 head tube and fork: The Bontrager E2 fork tapers from a 1.5" lower bearing to a 1-1/8" upper bearing. The larger-diameter lower bearing keeps the E2 fork stiffer under cornering loads and distributes forces more evenly, increasing the life of the bearings. Result: a more confident and durable ride.
IsoZone monostay: The seatstay junction experiences more vibration than any other part of your bike. Trek engineers spent more than a year designing an IsoZone damping feature that would absorb road buzz at this critical point on the frame, reducing rider fatigue. The IsoZone damper kills vibration in the range a rider feels most (between 40-50 Hz) at a rate twice that of any other system on the market.
Carbon fork: Lightweight fork with carbon fiber legs soaks up hand-numbing road vibration.
Alpha Gold Aluminum frame: Our high-performance lightweight aluminum is continuously cold extruded and butted for weight reduction and superior strength. Frames built with Alpha Gold feature some degree of mechanical and hydroforming to create more sophisticated shapes for lighter weight, and are finished using Trek's smooth-weld finishing process.
Puncture-resistant tires: Bontrager's first line of defense involves a subtread protective layer that prevents glass and stone from puncturing the tube. The protective layer varies in thickness and material by tire type and intended use, for optimal protection and minimal weight.
Rack & fender ready: Built-in mounts make it easy to add racks and fenders for added versatility.
IsoZone handlebar and grips: Your hands are the front lines when it comes to road vibrations, which then travel up your arms to your shoulders, causing fatigue and affecting control. So we decided to kill that vibration before it even gets to your hands. We drew upon Bontrager’s inForm Science of Comfort research to design the ergonomically shaped IsoZone Grip, then paired it with a handlebar containing an advanced elastomer insert to soak up road buzz. The result of this breakthrough bar/grip combination is nearly a 30% reduction in peak hand pressure, which means more comfort and control.
SpeedTrap compatible: SpeedTrap seamlessly integrates the computer sensor into the fork to measure speed and distance with no added aerodynamic drag.
