Specialized Carve Comp 29 (2012)
Pros
In a word: comfortable.
Cons
Component specs could have been a little beefed up.
Review
May not be a race bread machine but the Carve will get you where your going and leave you fresh enough to get home again. In a word we could call this ride comfortable. It was slightly sluggish in comparison to other hardtails we've ridden but there is something quite soothing about it. The positioning is relaxed but confidence inspiring. On my test ride I dropped down the wrong path and almost ended up in a lake but the set back position get me upright. Specialized has done something special with this bike for sure. Look to see more of these out on the trails as a bike to get started on and keep you going for years to come.
The base model Carve Comp 29 was designed to cruise fast-rolling singletrack. With an 80mm-travel RockShox XC32 fork, plus Shimano drivetrain and hydraulic disc brakes, the Carve Comp 29 is a capable and affordable cross-country machine
