Review
The Lapierre Audacio range are entry level alloy road bikes aimed at the budget conscious or beginner cyclist looking for a "real" bike. This is the Audacio 400, the top of the range in the "Sport" road bike category and is available here in a compact crank or alternatively as a triple.
The frame is alloy yet features a beautifully swept carbon fork that may be the envy of bikes worth a lot more money. The frame actually hasn't changed an awful lot over the years. The seat stays keep that wonderful curve which no doubt helps with vibration absorption, in fact reviews of this bike always mention how smooth the ride is for an alloy frame.
The Audacio 400 doesn't miss out on a good level of components for the money either. I like it when bikes have a complete drivetrain, rather than a mashing together of various brands. Shimano Tiagra is great value and performance here. The cassette on the compact bike features a 28t cog which offers plenty of choices for less fit riders on challenging terrain. In comparison the triple chainring version uses a tighter 25t cassette.
The only reported weakness is probably the tires which seem to be a little puncture prone and may not last long. Fortunately an easy upgrade.
At just under 9kg the Audacio 400 is no lightweight, but this is not a carbon bike at twice the price, it is a well thought-out road bike for beginners, enthusiasts and budget conscious cyclists and with that in mind it is a brilliant bike and worth a look.
The Lapierre Audacio 400 CP offers a lot of performance in an affordable package. This road bike is perfect for the novice or enthusiast on a budget. The Audacio features a lightweight alloy frame and carbon fork. Shimano Tiagra components shift reliably, and parts from FSA, Selle Italia, Ritchey, and Michelin add performance and value to the package. A Shimano factory wheelset is the finishing touch here.
