Silverback MERCURY COMP (2012)
The IDS suspension of 2012 has evolved from the original system to further improve the rider’s experience.
The new system uses linkage plates that are secured on both sides of the Bottom Bracket shell of the frame, and together with large cartridge bearings that are pressed into the frame’s BB shell; this produces a very stiff and reliable main pivot point.
The new arrangement has not added any weight to the design, yet has increased stiffness in the rear suspension configuration.
The complete system is laterally rigid, mainly because of this pivot arrangement, and ensures the rider can steer the bike accurately with little deflection in intended path, ensuring accurate handling in all terrains.
The evolution of the design creates a platform with virtually no suspension bob, and is ideally suited to fast cross country and trail riding due to the very efficient suspension travel and supple ride.
All suspension parts are replaceable and the system is simple to maintain, again helping the rider to spend time on the trail rather than working on getting the bike to work properly.
• Large main BB pivot is strong, stiff and easy to maintain
• Laterally stiff one piece rear triangle attaches to large BB pivot
• Suspension wheel path moves wheel away from oncoming bumps for more comfort and enhances traction under pedal load
• Initial linear feel with progressive end stroke creating bottomless travel sensation
• 28-33% sag measurement ensures maximum comfort and pedalling efficiency
