Review
The 2015 KHS Team 29 is an XC race specific bike only. The lightweight carbon frame gives the bike a feather feel in your hand and whip responsiveness in the corners and climbs, but it may be a little harsh for a recreational rider. The 100mm Fox Float 32 CTD fork is again going to provide the rider all the support they need during a race, but for recreation you may find yourself re-tuning it for a more supple ride.
The SRAM XX1 drivetrain is a great addition to this bike as it weighs very little and gives you all the gears you need to pound around the trails, but it may wear faster than expected. SRAM offers more recreational versions of their 1x11 platform that may be more suited to recreational use over long periods of time. For racing, though, you aren't going to do any better than XX1. The SRAM Guide RSC brakes provide more than enough stopping power and retain a decent amount of reliability and longevity for any type of riding.
If you are a recreational rider than this is not the bike for you. The ride is race specific which may be too harsh and uncomfortable for your average rider. The KHS Team 29 does boast a superb SRAM build kit but it may wear a lot faster than you are expecting. If you are racing the only thing this bike needs is possibly a fancier paint job and that's about it.
For cross-country racing, you need great equipment. The Team 29 from KHS Bicycles is just what the doctor ordered. This speed machine features a lightweight carbon frame and a tuned Fox fork. SRAM's XX1 components grace the drivetrain, and SRAM hydraulic discs add confident braking. Parts from Ritchey, Maxxis, FSA, and Velo add performance, and a DT Swiss wheelset finishes the bike off.
